I have recently read and loved called the The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams.
This book was actually one I pre- ordered last year so it was a welcomed surprised when it landed through my letter box as I had totally forgotten I forgotten about this purchase.
I read the book in one sitting - whilst on a train journey from London to Newcastle the other week, a short but impactful read.
Book - The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje - Williams. Cushions made by me.
The book is based in one day and tells the story of three adults - Temi the best friend, the wife and the husband.
In a battle for power and dynamics Ore has done a wonderful job of giving just enough history about the three characters but kindly leaves space for the imagination of the reader to conjure up their own thoughts about the final outcome - of which I won’t spoil.
It’s carefully written and although some characters are nameless ( which I no doubt was done on purpose) they are in no means faceless.
I personally flitted between who I wanted to support as I moved from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd chapter. Each story and character perspective slightly different but all intertwined.
The book highlights loyalty - both to a long standing friend who was there before the marriage and a husband to whom vows were made.
Overall verdict - I would recommend this book and will wait patiently for anything else Ore has in store.
What are you reading at the moment? Do let me know, I’m always looking for new suggestions and new authors.
Until next time x
